Most hurricanes or tropical storms that make it to Europe usually do so in the form of extratropical systems.
Sometimes, they are very powerful, retaining hurricane-force winds.
Here are tropical systems that have made it to Europe since 1950. (I'm going to also include Iceland)

Also, the remnants of Kyle passed through Europe in 2002 after a lengthy time as a hurricane/tropical storm in the Atlantic. At that time, I was a forecaster in Germany. We had 50-60kt winds with periods of heavy rainshowers for 24-36 hours. Military bases in the UK had quite a bit of damage from the wind.

I was wondering about the long lived Hurricane Felix in 1995.
I remember it moved slowly toward the outer banks of N.C. before stalling out then heading NE and doing a loop before heading NE out to sea.
Didn't it eventually affect Great Britain as an extra-tropical system? I could be wrong, but I seem to recall reading something about bad weather over there as the result of Felix.
