You beat me to it.

Are you guys serious? Have they actually done Hurricane Drills where they actually shut down I-4 or did they just do everything except actually reverse it? What a huge undertaking. I applaud FL for however far they have taken the preparedness drills. They have done the same here in SE TX, but I have never seen mention of evacuation routes being involved in the exercise.
In actuality HF5 I thought your post was a joke at first, but like I said EM and LE have held drills here too.

If my memory serves me correctly (no comments from the peanut gallery!) I remember reading a discussion from the NHC that dealt with a "test" hurricane and the co-oridinates were given as was a forecast, it was a "z" named storm (I think). So they do practice before the season starts. I know our county does issue practice and tests from the EM team to all the emergency personal and even the skywarn members.
I think after 3 evacuations last year, our county has had enough practice to last a life time.

I think when it comes down to it people in Florida know when a storm is out there & most take appropriate action when it is time to do so.Some take all the neccesary measures some don't but everyone knows when there is a warning that somethings going down. Therefore no fake practice warnings are needed.

The Florida turnpike is ready they have stopped collecting tolls during evacuation times!!
If the media would stop scaring the pee out of people, there wouldn't be such a problem with evacuation. People need to be educated that if they live in a well built shuttered home not in an evacuation zone they don't have to leave. I experienced it twice last year, everybody left during Frances in a panic. Alot of the people who left for Frances stayed for Jeanne. They eye of both storms passed rate over my house, I live in a well built home 1 mile from the beach and not in an evacuation zone. I have three little kids and I made the decision that loading up the van and spending > 24 hours trying to get to Georgia was much more riskier. I'll admit 100+mph winds blowing over your house does cause the blood pressure to go up, but not once did I think the house was going to fail. Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast had their hurricane drill. This area is now experienced and should react more responsibly in the future. I have to say the local media did a good job stressing people to stay if they are in a well built structure.
