Worldwide Tropical Update: 08 February 2005

The Storm2K Worldwide Tropical Update for 08 February 2005 at 0000Z.

Tropical Cyclone Meena (07F/15P) (08/0000Z)
Position: 28.0S 150.0W (655 mi SSW of Tahiti, French Polynesia)
Movement: ESE at 29 mph
Winds: 70 mph
Pressure: 980 mb / 28.94"
Dvorak Est: Extratropical

Meena has moved into Wellington’s AOR and is continuing to rapidly fall apart and become extratropical.

Tropical Depression Noname (13R/91S) (08/0000Z)
Position: 28.2S 53.5E (600 mi SW of Port Louis, Mauritius)
Movement: SSW at 9 mph
Winds: 35 mph
Pressure: 999 mb / 29.50"
Dvorak Est: Too weak

13R is slowly moving throughout the Indian Ocean thanks to a building ridge. Limited change to strength is expected.

Tropical Cyclone Noname (---/17S) (07/2200Z)
Position: 16.2S 116.3E (325 NNW of Port Hedland, Australia)
Movement: Stationary
Winds: 40 mph
Pressure: 995 mb / 29.38"
Dvorak Est: T2.5/2.5

17S remains stationary off the Western Australian coast. Expect some slow development over the next few days.

TC 17S is now Vivienne, BoM just upgraded the system since its pressure dropped from 995 mb to 990 mb, and its organization has improved a little bit. Fortunately, it's nothing to worry about.

Tropical Cyclone Meena (07F/15P) (08/1800Z)
Position: 31.0S 143.0W (1020 mi SE of Tahiti, French Polynesia)
Movement: SE at 29 mph
Winds: 65 mph
Pressure: 987 mb / 29.15"
Dvorak Est: Extratropical

Meena continues to speed off toward the deep South Pacific as an extratropical cyclone.

Tropical Depression Noname (13R/91S) (08/1800Z)
Position: 30.0S 54.7E (690 mi SW of Port Louis, Mauritius)
Movement: S at 7 mph
Winds: 40 mph
Pressure: 999 mb / 29.50"
Dvorak Est: Extratropical

13R, barely hanging on, has now transitioned into an extratropical cyclone SW of Madagascar.

Tropical Cyclone Vivienne (07U/17S) (08/1600Z)
Position: 15.7S 115.9E (370 NW of Port Hedland, Australia)
Movement: Stationary
Winds: 60 mph
Pressure: 990 mb / 29.23"
Dvorak Est: T1.5/2.0

Vivienne continues to aimlessly meander off the coast of Western Australia.

Tropical Depression Noname (14R/92S) (08/1800Z)
Position: 18.0S 56.3E (190 mi N of Port Louis, Mauritius)
Movement: Stationary
Winds: 25 mph
Pressure: 1003 mb / 29.62"
Dvorak Est: Too weak

Newly formed 14R follows in the footsteps of 13R. Some slow strengthening is forecast over the next few days.
