It was about altering weather. It featured one researcher who is using chaos theory to see if a small disturbance at the formation of a hurricane could ultimately alter the outcome of a storm. This in conjunction with the idea of spreading a polymer on the surface to reduce evaporation, and a new gel that absorbs 1000x it's weight in water. It showed a plane spreading the powder above a cloud and the cloud just disappeared. They estimated the amount of powder required to affect a hurricane would fill 250 C5 transport planes!
Also reported on cloud seeding to reduce hail, the attempt by the British and US govt's to seed clouds to alter storms that were approaching the coasts. In the case of the Brits, the storm ended in a catastrophe. There was speculation that the efforts made the storm worse. In the case of the US, I believe it was "operation cirrus" in case anyone wants to research it further.
Finally there was a piece on how the US gov't seeded clouds in the Vietnam war to cause rain over the Ho-Chi-Min trail to slow down supplies to the viet-cong. It was reportedly successful.
Interesting show!
