Status of I-55 and I 310 out of NOLA

Dont really want to start a new thread but I am going to do it anyway for those in greater NOLA area.

I just returned from a flying trip to cutoff La. to secure my camp and pick up my gen. set. I-55 is mostly open tonight but the crews are working like crazy to open the bottle neck at ponchatoula. :( BR local news says that I-55 will close later tonight for work. I-55 is currently ONE LANE at the north end of the bridge.

If you plan to take 310 west to 90 and then to points west. the Luling bridge is 1 lane only on the bridge itself. traffic was backed up sat. sun. and tonight.

IF YOU LIVE IN NOLA MY ADVICE IS TO GET OUT NOW. TOMORROW WILL BE A TRAFFIC NIGHTMARE.

Dennis, I know all this "excitement" in New Orleans is upsetting people I disagree with everywhere. However, people in N.O. can't wait until we know where it's going. It will be too late. Go to Google and read about our situation here. Then you will understand that "PC" shouldn't even come into the conversation. I'm sorry if this reply is a little harsh, but that was some bad advice you just gave.

i know ts.....i still think things have jumped the gun a little based on projected landfall and intensity.....but i dont live there so who knows....

this works out well this way....the most skittish get out tonight and tomorrow.....and then if the forecast changes that still leaves time on wednesday for the rest...

A doctor I know spent Camile in the attic of a two story Victorian near NO. By the time the water stopped rising, they were in the very top of the gable on tables and dressers with water at their neck singing hyms.(with a brand new 69 Caddilac ramming the outside of the house, floating)

No joke when it's looking like NO could be on the bullseye. Tiem to take a holiday.

might just leave, have a daughter who lives northwest of the lake. Won't be tommorrow at any rate. If I do it will be a first - have ridden out every storm that came through here since '61. still might boogie tho
