Flow Ahead of Frances showing Westward Movement?

#1 Postby THead » Wed Sep 01, 2004 5:03 pm

Amateur here, but trying to use some common sense. On the visible loops, you can see the cloud cover to the west of frances, and I mean from the western edges of frances to waaay west of frances, are all still flowing westward. Correct me if I'm wrong but if there was going to be a more NW turn, wouldn't the clouds ahead (west) of Frances be already going that direction?

The ULL behind her is too far away, IMHO. Besides, she's moving away from it.

I don't know the answer to your question but I do see what you are talking about. It makes logical sense to me.

The building high currently centered over northwest Florida reminds me of the Andrew steering back in 92. Andrew was headed northwest steered by a ULL over the Bahamas and just when we thought we were in the clear the ULL split. Andrew was steered back west on a fast track trapped under a similar high/ridge orientation.
