Jacksonville, what to expect?

#1 Postby FlSteel » Wed Sep 01, 2004 1:51 pm

I live in the mandarin area of Jacksonville, just north of St. John's county. This will be my first storm. I work for a power company and will not be able to evacuate but was curious if I should attempt to evacuate my wife and kids to her parents place north of Augusta? I know that up here we will be on the northeast side of the projected path all day and recieve alot of rain and winds upward of hurricane 1 strength and probably some gusts over 100. I live in a pretty solid house. I'm just worried about how soon to evacuate my family if that is the course. I imagine the roads starting tomorrow night out of FL are going to be packed. Still have fears from the FLOYD evac. Any comments would be appreciated.
