I just wanted to remind everyone that those of us who are not in the path of the storm are watching *almost* as closely as you are and will be thinking about you in the coming days.

After Charley, we worried about people that could not get word out and that was *almost* as terrible as watching the devastation as it happened. Even though you may not post often, have a buddy that you chat with here - but visit the board, your names are in lights ;-) as we read who is on the board. Some of the posters didn't participate in the Severe Weather Check-In policy and we wondered, waited and watched for our friends to come back.

So, because I am a nosy neighbor from Texas to the posters in Florida, I hope that you all keep in touch with someone that can post on your behalf so we know that our Florida friends (and others who may be affected) are safe.

Sorry, but I wont be able to, if Charley can be used as a guide. I work for the fire dept and we have been told to report to work Fri morning (all 3 shifts) and to not expect to go home for 3-5 days. After the last one, we had only backup generators for power, no cell phones, and no internet or CATV for days.

Same here. We were without power, phones, water, and cell phones. Power was out for six days, phones for 2, but only working intermittenly after that. It took me two weeks to get internet capabilities back. Sigh, could be longer this time.
