When reports talk about wind radius

Hi.

A question came up as we were looking at the storm here in Boynton. When they express a distance on wind (such as hurricane force winds extend out xx miles) are they expressing the distance as a radius or diameter or the storm?

Extend out xx miles FROM THE CENTER. It's expressed as a radius.
