Two questions: windfield map links? Florida internet radio

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Two questions: windfield map links? Florida internet radio

#1 Postby KBBOCA » Tue Aug 31, 2004 4:11 pm

Hi all,

I am a Floridian living and working in West Africa (in the Sahara desert somewhat above where the hurricanes come off the coast, so please don't blame ME for Frances!! LOL!)

It's stressful being so far away from family & friends with a major hurricane seeming to be bearing down on FL. Am trying (with my limited internet access) to keep up with the latest on Frances.

Two questions:

1) Can any of you recommend good links that show windfield maps corresponding to the forecast track? i.e. what areas are likely to experience hurricane-force winds and what area tropical storm-force winds?

2) anyone have any links to a (South) Florida radio station that broadcasts over the internet with good news and weather? I would love to be able to listen "live" to what's going on if/when Frances gets closer to Florida.

Praying from Africa that as many as possible will be spared from Frances!

Thanks in advance for whatever info you all can suggest.

I just found a site with windfield maps, even projected, at

this afternoon. They look kind of crude, but made me happy.

Just keep in mind that the NHC wind radii are for marine use only. Wind radii over land will be significantly reduced because of frictional effects.
