Archived Charley NEXRAD data?

#1 Postby 9:48 » Tue Aug 17, 2004 12:07 am

Hi everyone. Long time reader, first time poster. Sorry to be making a new post about this, but...

I live in Winter Springs, FL, an Orlando suburb that was hit quite hard by Charley. Power and phone services were both just restored today, and the damage was quite extensive to trees, signs, patios, powerlines...well, everything really. I took extensive notes on pressure and winds during the Charley's passage (I'll be posting them tomorrow...I'm a little tired right now), and as a matter of fact, the center passed directly over my house (guess what time it did that...). Anyway I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of a NEXRAD MLB archive site as I DEFINITELY want to find the radar image with the center right over my house. Again sorry to be cluttering up the board with a personal request but I sort of want that base reflectivity image. For some reason the NWS Melbourne homepage doesn't have any sort of special reporting on Charley's stats as it passed directly through the CWA.

Thanks to Storm2k for all the great reading in the days leading up to Charley. The information I found here allowed me to more accurately warn my Orlando area friends and coworkers to take Charley seriously. Also I have some pretty incredible pictures of the aftermath that I'll be emailing in at some point. Hard to say when just right now, but sometime.

I have a few radar images saved with the center right over the Orlando area. I'll send a couple your way if you'd like.

Well, now that I looked up Winter Springs on a map, the images I have are where the center is just to the SW of Orlando. If you're still interested let me know.

This is amazing. It's a 64 frame loop of Charley as it made landfall and moved across Florida. Stormsfury made this loop. Has to be the most impressive radar loop I've seen of a 'cane since I started tracking. Hope it helps. Enjoy.
