Once again I have to wonder why they don't start rotating the starting letter each year. Not soon, but eventually, all the B-F (or so) names are going to be retired...and we'll get weirder and weirder names as replacements
Come on, wouldn't it be refreshing to see Hurricanes Pamela, Tracy, Viktor, and Zeke?

And let's not forget the Cuban casualties too at least 3 that I know so this is an easy case to retire that name.

Same with Spanish. Cesar-Cristobal.
Cesar is retired ... Cristobal is already in use in the ATL list ...
EDIT: My bad, you were explaining something about the retirement/replacement of names...
Anyway, this is the last year that Charley will be used. The devastation was in a narrow swath but very long reaching across the Florida Peninsula in terms of length across C FL ... and even worse, could be far deadlier than we know at this point. There are a lot of people still unaccounted for in Punta Gorda, and some other locales in the direct path of Charley in its trek through Florida ...

this storm absolutely must be retired. Even in 2004 no one can accurately predict hurricanes with any certainty. And this particular storm intensified from some 980 mb pressure to low 940s in 12 hours right before landfall. sure it was 'projected' to hit a much more densly populated area in Tampa which thank God did not happen, but would have been much more infamous and historical. But the intensification and sudden slight shift to the east were both against the medias hype and forecaters efforts to convey to public. No doubt a storm that will be remembered.

Why is this even a question? Come on dude. I knew as soon as it became a Cat 3 it would be retired.
Tom... Andrew, Bob, Gloria, Hugo will NEVER be on the list again.
