This question is important because on the horizon there is TD#5/Earl which may get into the GOM by next week.
But my opinion about possible upwelling in the GOM caused by Bonnie and Charley is that both systems moved fairly rapid and no big cooling of the waters occured.
Did Bonnie and especially Charley caused upwelling in EGOM?

IMHO, Bonnie and Charley upwelling won't be any factor in the development of T.D. #5 SHOULD it track along the same lines ... the ensemble spread doesn't (right now) look to bring this system up towards the E GOM ...
I've been busy with Bonnie and Charley, so I won't have a good feel on those until Charley gets out of South Carolina ...

Could it be because it skirted the coast...and as the western portion of the storm passed first..it was sucking water out...could that have been what saved them from the very large storm surges they were predicting??
Fast motion I believe. Typically those are low surgers. I guess it gives the water more time to build up.
