WREL Model Map Has Moved !

#1 Postby Scott_inVA » Sat Aug 07, 2004 10:01 am

Folks,

On 8/7/04, we have begun migrating many of the weather products and pages from wrel.com to a new site:

http://www.midatlanticwx.com

This change includes the Computer Model Map and all our other hurricane related pages.

The new address for the model map is:

http://www.midatlanticwx.com/modelmap.htm

We will automatically redirect for a period of time but I'd appreciate y'all changing bookmarks/favorites on your next visit.

WREL was recently sold (yes, I'm still employed  ) and the wrel.com domain is to be dedicated to the local area. Obviously, tracking waves and TCs far from land, covering tornado outbreaks in the Plains or content related to winter storms in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast isn't "local". So, wrel.com will provide local wx info and this new site will be much more regional.

Mid-Atlantic WX.com has lots of goodies and is a much larger site and should be easier to navigate if you don't live in the local area. Launch is at this time b/c there are no active TCs so feel free to stroll and give me feedback before we get busy.

Thank you again for the many kind comments about the maps and the WREL site. Far from an ending...it's a beginning and an improvement :D

Well I hope the new buyers appreciate good weather people when they see them. Our local radio has gone down the tubes.

Thanks for the new link!

Update...

Model Maps will be published and uploaded to the new site as of 1PM EDT 8/9/04.

If you'll be looking for the GOM disturbance, click here after that time:

Thanks.

As always-THANKS, Scott. Those model maps are invaluable for novices or those too lazy to plot the models on a map (guilty on both counts).

Your work is very much appreciated. Will you have a track for Bonnie soon? :D

OK folks....had to do quick re-design work on the tables to get both maps...but...Bonnie and TD 3 both are now displayed.

If you're on a dial-up, it'll be slow but hang in there.

Scott, I really don't like that BAMM model for TD3. Can you make it go away?

WHY?

It's not every TC you, me, DT (check Charley's 120 hr position...smack dab on RIC)...and everyone inbetween gets in on the action 8-)

On a more serious note, tracking the limited data thus far, GFDL has been closest with Charley...followed by TPC. Still early but that's the story so far.
