4:15 PM EDT Storm2k Tropical Update,August 6

#1 Postby cycloneye » Fri Aug 06, 2004 3:16 pm

The Atlantic Basin this afternoon has some tropical waves located from the eastern atlantic to the western caribbean sea.The only wave that has a well defined low pressure is the one located some 700 miles eastnortheast of the Northern Leeward islands.But convection in this wave is comming and going as it is being sheared by SW upper winds.This system has some potential in the next 36-48 hours to develop into a tropical depression if the shear relaxes as it moves west to westnorthwest.

Another tropical wave the remmants of former TD#2 is moving westnorthwestward and it has clouds.showers and thunderstorms but the organization is poor at this time as upper shear is not favorable for regeneration at this time.But the upper shear is forecast to relax a bit and that will allow the wave to organize but it would be slow to occur.

Elsewhere:The Gulf Of Mexico has an unusual cold front sitting in the waters there but there are no signs or anything trying to form at this time.

Tropical storm formation is not expected thru saturday.

Forecaster=Luis Martinez (Cycloneye).
