Yep...and even got a little acknowledgement from the NHC in their 3 p.m. advisory:
UNOFFICIAL SUSTAINED WINDS OF 72 MPH AND A PEAK GUST OF 102 MPH WERE REPORTED FROM NEAR CAPE HATTERAS BY TWO PRIVATE FIRMS...WEATHERFLOW INC AND THE HURRICANE INTERCEPT RESEARCH TEAM...RESPECTIVELY.

That was an 86 mph gust early on. His peak gust was 102 mph at 2:12 p.m. That's the report that the NHC included in their 3 p.m. advisory.
