PRESSURE "FALLING RAPIDLY" MID-GOM......

It would seem prudent to keep a close eye on the GOM. Pressure are falling all over the place and especially here, 180 kn S. of Louisiana:

Conditions at 42001 as of
(5:50 pm CDT)
2250 GMT on 08/02/2004:

Wind Direction (WDIR): S ( 170 deg true )
Wind Speed (WSPD): 7.8 kts
Wind Gust (GST): 7.8 kts
Wave Height (WVHT): 1.3 ft
Dominant Wave Period (DPD): 4 sec
Atmospheric Pressure (PRES): 29.88 in
Pressure Tendency (PTDY): -0.12 in ( Falling Rapidly )
Air Temperature (ATMP): 83.7 °F
Water Temperature (WTMP): 87.4 °F
Dew Point (DEWP): 75.0 °F
Heat Index (HEAT): 91.4 °F

Nothing organized. Just a bunch of Tropical Moisture. If it persists and the UL enviornment improves maybe something could pop.

Now that the area is fairly far away from Alex, it actually almost looks like the tail end of a frontal boundary (or trough) ... however, I don't exactly hold a lot of hopes up for 90L developing something tropically speaking ... at least right now.

A 0.12 in. drop in pressure can't be consider small, especially when they rose 0.09 in. one to three hours before that this afternoon.
