OH The IRONY!

#1 Postby Swimdude » Thu Jul 29, 2004 9:25 am

There's plenty of word going around the message boards that there's a chance Texas or Louisiana could be in for a TC of sorts next week. This is just fantastic. As can be seen in my signature, I live in Houston. I will be vacationing to Montana on Saturday! :grr: And wont be back until August 8th. So if a storm does form and move in, I wont be here to experience it.

Just to add to this irony, our one threat last year, Claudette, which ended up making landfall at South Padre Isl., I was out of town for as well.

I dont think the tropics and I like eachother's company as much as I thought.

Anyone else have similar experiences?

Yes!!! I frequently go to San Antonio, sometimes for extended periods of time, to visit family. I left for SA in very early June of 2001 and had plans to stay for the month, and, OF course, I missed Allison, although I did get about .1" of rain from her.

Well guys I have the opposite effect. I have lived in Texas since 1984 and my native Texan friends (who are tropical storm/hurricane nuts) blame me for no major hurricanes hitting Texas since Alicia in 1983!!

And I am planning on being at Matagorda Bay/Port O'Connor next weekend with my family for a 4-day beach trip. Give my track record, the middle TX coast should be safe.
