S2k's Tropical Update Show

#1 Postby DROliver » Wed Jun 09, 2004 9:20 pm

The Hurricane Project is happy to announce Storm2k’s Tropical Update. We will stream audio at Midnight-6am-Noon-6pm with the most update official storm information. Also you can listen to each broadcast on site or download. The storm information will be there when you need it.

I want to thank Lindaloo for volunteering to be our first host, she will do the noon show. Also Mike Watkins form tropicalupdate.com has volunteered to be a host for either the Midight show or the 6pm show.Chad and BarometerBob have offered their services to be alternates. We are still looking for 2 hosts and 2 more alternates. The available time slots are the 6am show and either the Midnight or 6pm show. The tropical updates will only be given when we have a named storm in the Atlantic Basin.

Also we need people from every region in the Atlantic basin that has a
broadband connection(DSL or CABLE) and has or is willing to get a NOAA
Weather Radio. What we ask if you quailfy is to play your weather radio
and with easy to install software stream that broadcast to our servers. This service can be 24/7 or just when a storm approaches your region. It will not hinder with your bandwidth or computer performance and it will not cost you one penny, unless you have to get a NOAA Weather Radio.

This will be a huge project that will be the largest networked coverage
on NOAA Weather Radio it will put S2K and affiliates on the map as a huge
player in the weather information network. At this time there is 28
stations that stream NOAA on the internet and very few on the Atlantic Basin. We could easily triple that number.

http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/streamaudio.htm

What we would accomplish is a network were everyone will have instant
online access to official regional weather updates via NOAA throughout
the Atlantic Basin.

If you are interested please reply.

Thanks

I have dsl, live video, and live weather (davis wireless). Also have a trunking scanner with noaa programmed. Will that do, or is there a different broadcast for weather radios? I have always stayed during a storm and would be more than happy to supply info during a hurricane. With any luck I won't have to supply info though. What are the odds of a hurricane hitting the outer banks.

That will be fine as long as your system has an ear or headphone jack. That is the only way to get it to stream.

PM me and we will share some info to get you started!
