Hey Flamming.... I'm over here in Destin, I know what you are saying. We've been very dry as the Bermuda High has come into play somewhat early this year and has stalled the fronts just to our west giving LA, MS and westward plenty of rain. This has been a strange Spring so far, although Spring is usually somewhat drier we usually get an occasional frontal passage with a line of TStorms which has been a rarity this Spring.

I'm glad to hear that. We're going to Gulf Shores(just west of Pensacola) in Mid-June, and I was afraid the water wouldn't be warm enough.

Yes, the SST's along our beaches have begun to warm rather rapidly the past couple of weeks. I think they have hit 80 in some places already.

I dont know about lucky you had a few direct hits & a few very close calls in the 90's.

Pensacola sits along the GOM coast & 1ce a storm gets in the GOM its land locked & has to hit some place..I'm sure Pensacola will be hit again pretty soon just because of where it is.

Just think about what Opal would have done had it not weakened right before landfall. I've been to Pensacola several times and a strong Category 4 hurricane would devastate the whole area.

I hate the Bermuda high!! It spoils all my weather fun ;) :grr:

I would settle just for some nice afternoon thunderstorms about now, I dont know when last we even had one of those. So I guess wishing for a nice TS would just be well...... -removed- ;)

While we're on the subject of being lucky... I think the entire coastline has been lucky since 1998. No major hurricanes at landfall. I think EVERYONE is overdue, but especially the Gulf coast and the Atlantic coastlines of Florida/Georgia/South Carolina.

Yep, someone is going to get slammed sooner or later.

You can't avoid the inevitable you know.
