I'm going to try to make it this year again--last year was fun. :-)

With that timing down for sure, there shouldn't be a problem with me showing up again this year too. :D

We're now debating whether it is worthwhile to even exhibit this year. Moving it to the evening means that there will be more general public and less industry people attending. And the general public are NOT our current or potential customers. If they want to cater to business, then an evening conference is a bad idea.

A little word of mouth can't hurt. I would imagine that the regular attendees would still be there in the evening. :-)

I have my doubts that the regular attendees will attend. The people like to come because they can get out of the office for half a day and maybe learn something about hurricanes. But I think that many from private industry will be less inclined to attend on their own time after working all day. It's more convenient for the general public, but they don't buy anything from exhibitors. We'll see, but I think this is a bad move for this conference. The general public should have a separate conference.

Chris you have some legitimate points for sure. Why don't you contact Gene and tell him what you think? As part of the general public I appreciate the timing. Normally I would not be able to attend on the old schedule. The only reason I could last year is that I was without a job at the time. This year I will be there because I can take off work to get there in time. I do think that youshould contact Gene about your concerns because they are legitimate.

I may see Gene at the next local AMS meeting. If not me, then one of us will ask about the time change. I just don't think that the people in the industries we sell to will take the time go go there at night.

I have bad news for you Floridians. We have a very long-time employee at our company who is absolutely a hurricane magnet. For decades, wherever she goes on vacation, she gets hit by a hurricane - Atlantic, Pacific, wherever. Well, she retired today and will be moving to the Tampa Bay area before hurricane season.

Now we know where the big one will hit this year.
