Tropical Update: 19 Feb

:rarrow: A) Remnants of Noname (01W): At 19/0600Z...
Position near 8.4N 132.2E (340nm E of Mindanao, Philippines)
Maximum sustained winds are 15-25 mph
Minimum central pressure is 1005 mb

Satellite imagery indicates 01W has a partially-exposed low-level circulation. Favorable diffluence is located in the SW quadrant of the upper-level ridge while weak to moderate wind shear remains aloft. It should be noted, however, that this shear has decreased over the past 24 hours. The JTWC has maintained its “poor” rating for redevelopment.

:rarrow: B) Unnumbered Area of Interest: At 19/0600Z...
Position near 2.8N 95.5E (170nm SSW of the Northern tip of Sumatra)
Maximum sustained winds are 25-30 mph
Minimum central pressure is 1006 mb

Satellite imagery indicates an organized mid-level rotation. Good outflow exists in the upper-levels which will favor development. Regardless, the JTWC has issued a “poor” threat for development for this system whereas NRL Monterey has yet to upgrade this wave into a 90-series Invest.
