Odette's trying to become a hurricane......

The latest infrared imagery showed a slight weakening, and now it looks like she is about to let out another burst of deep convection.

All indications are this is moving more east than expected and has taken on that Lenny shape shown below, although no compare:

Don't forget that those IR images don't necessarily mean that it is weakening based on color symbolism. :) But if you check out the visible image, you can see some clear disorganization beginning to take place.

I'd be very very surprised if it reaches hurricane strength. I'm already surprised it has reached 55knots. That was way higher than I thought it would go given that it was looking pretty sickly yesterday morning.

Trying to become a hurricane and becoming a hurricane are two different things. :)

A tropical storm with winds of 60 mph is pretty impressive for December.
