Odette Satellite w/Sfc Plots

#1 Postby wxman57 » Sat Dec 06, 2003 9:34 am

Well, so much for my vacation yesterday. I'm in the office again Saturday morning as we have a customer in Santo Domingo. I snapped a screen shot of the 12Z satellite with land/ship reports. Interestingly, Though Santo Domingo is only 140 miles from the center, winds have been from the NORTH all night! They're STILL from the north. And the Santo Domingo TAF is forecast north winds. With ships reporting SE at 30-40 kts just offshore Santo Domingo, you'd expect the city to at least have southeast winds!

Added note: According to the 1415Z vortex message, the center is nearly exposed south of that ball of convection. A very poorly-organized storm.
