China's new Fengyun-4B (FY-4B) geostationary satellite, which was launched in June 2021, has been put into trial operation.
FY-4B, positioned at 133°E, has an impressive spatial resolution as high as 250 meters and comes with a geostationary high-speed imager (GHI) that has a temporal resolution of 1 minute! A powerful tool to spice up typhoon tracking in the WPAC . Hopefully, China will be more open to releasing data/images from this satellite to the public.

China's NSMC released this 1-minute FY-4B rapid scan loop of Typhoon Cempaka (July 2021) as it intensified near the Guangdong coast. For comparison, Himawari-8 rapid scan updates every 2.5 mins.
FY-4B was originally located at 123.5E during its in-orbit test then moved to 133E last April.

Respect for the Chinese if they allow this to be publicly viewed.
