This excerpt from the Brownsville AFD says it all for the 2003 hurricane season
STILL KEEPING A WARY EYE ON ANY FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF MID LEVEL LOW
OVER THE ATLANTIC AND ANY SUBSEQUENT SURFACE TRANSLATION. GFS
REMAINS MOST CONSISTENT RUN TO RUN AND EVENTUALLY TAKES ANY SURFACE
LOW AND ASSOCIATED MOISTURE INTO THE LOUISIANA COAST. SYSTEM WILL BE
FIGHTING CLIMO AND ANY REASONABLE STANDARD OF WEATHER HISTORY.
BUT...GIVEN THE OVERALL NON-CONFORMITY OF THIS YEAR'S WEATHER TO ANY
SORT OF REASONABLE AVERAGE...WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED TO SEE US
THREATENED AGAIN. PLUS...MODELS ARE REALLY ALL OVER THE PLACE WITH
THIS FEATURE. BEARS WATCHING.
