It's just a frontal wave, produced by a mid-level vort max. Not tropical at all. In fact, it's the same system that dropped 4" of rain on me around 5pm as I drove home yesterday and had me heading for higher ground until the flood subsided. My wife was nearly flooded-out. She was stuck at a KFC place for 3 hours.
