Good afternoon everyone. Tropical storm Mindy, the 13th named storm of the 2003 Atlantic Hurricane season has formed this afternoon near the Dominican Republic.
At 5 PM EDT, Mindy is centered near latitude 19.2 north, longitude 69.0 west or about 250 miles southeast of Grand Turk Island.
Mindy is moving toward the northwest at near 12 mph and this motion is expected to continue over the next 24 hours. Thus Mindy is expected to move away from Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic and near the Turks and Caicos Islands during the next 24 hours. Keep an eye out for very heavy rain because that is the main threat at this time.
Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph with higher gusts. Some strengthening is a possibility during the next 24 hours. Minimum central pressure is 1004 mb or 29.65 inches.
Also NOTE: A tropical storm warning has been used by the government of the Bahamas for the southeastern Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands. A tropical storm warning means tropical storm conditions are expected during the next 24 hours or less.

Yea agree
After affecting the southeastern Bahaman Islands and the Turks and Caicos, a trough in the eastern US will shove Mindy back north, then northeast away from the United States east coast. Bermuda could see a strong tropical storm or extratropical system though. So Bermuda has a definite threat from Mindy coming up too. Keep an eye on that about 3-4 days down the road.
