I am going down to Nags Head NC in 5 days....
We will be staying at Milepost 14.5, in 3 beach houses there, from 12Noon Friday this upcoming week, through Monday at 11am.
I will be personally walking over to Milepost 15.5, where I will be looking over some of the damage in those areas. It is eerie to realize that I have seen so many OBX pics of damage there, and now I will actually be standing there personally.
The beach house we rented out last October is kind of damaged; the 9 foot dune is gone, as is the wooden deck and stairs and the nice pool out back is all filled with sand.
This is the very first time I will be visiting a hurricane-ravaged beach, ever since I visited Virginia Beach in 1999 just after Dennis thrashed the beach there.
I'm kind of scared and excited at the same time.
Anyone live out that way? What can I expect? Are visitors allowed to see the new "Isabel Inlet"?

THe new inlet area is off limits, respectfully, as the only way from Frisco to Hatteras Village is and will be by boat for quite a while. Currently, only property owners are allowed in the immediate area. You can expect huge piles of rubble when you get down around 14-15, and all roads are passible until you get down to S Nags Head where some roads and water lines are gone. If you're interested, the fishing tournament is a GO for this coming weekend...
