5 PM EDT advisory on Kate=Almost a cat 4 125 mph moving west

It has intensified to almost a cat 4 and it has continued to move west at 12 mph.

Wow! Whoda thought she'd get this strong? She sure is a beautiful storm to look at, at least until she runs into that brick wall of a trough (thankfully).

Yep, even though everything points to a turn towards the north it still is ominous to watch Kate head straight towards Bermuda :o

I am highly suspicious that this is not a strong cat 3. This has the sat signature of a minimal cat 3. 100KT winds may be a lot closer to reality than the 110KT

She has tons of time to turn, plus the turn will likely be very sharp. I'd be more worried about a later-than-expected to turn in regards to it hitting Newfoundland.

could Kate reach Cat 5 status? I am asking because in 5 days whatever is left may affect the UK -could be interesting to say the least!

No Chaser shear soon will begin to weaken it as it makes the turn to the north but it will be interesting to see in what form those remanants will go to the UK.

Chaser I dont think that this will be the one..

SSt still remian good ober over Biscay and I still belive that the last two weeks of October will see our home grown tank of a depression for there and affect NW Europe

Err am I in wish cast mode...time will tell..

indeed, I notice that many models don't really seem to pick up on the feature at all when it get close to the UK - is that right?
