Is Hurricane Season 2003 over????

#1 Postby Anonymous » Fri Oct 03, 2003 7:21 pm

Remember in early October 2001 when we all thought was over, deadly Hurricane Iris hit Belize. Then, Michelle hit Cuba. Will Larry be the last of 2003 or will Mindy come up???

I think I would still be on the safe side even if I said a couple more storms. Hey guys we still have almost 8 weeks left, think we could see 2 more storms in Oct. and even perhaps a storm in Nov. before this season shuts down.

After about 2 weeks or so we could see things quiet down a bit. I say 2 weeks because on October 13, 1999 Hurricane Irene formed in the Carib and gave us here in South Florida a major soaking so Ill be watching the tropics until at least October 20.

1-3 storms left IMO. A 4th major forming in the Caribbean seems likely.

The hurricane season still has 58 days left... why not continue to watch for potential development during late October and November?

Remember in the 2001 during the October/November perid Iris, Jerry, Karen, Lorenzo, Michelle, Noel , Olga formed.

7 Tropical Storms
5 Hurricanes
2 Major Hurricanes.

So I think that it is much to early to "close up shop" for the season.

Its not over until November is over. It only takes one storm to cause major damage and unbreakable memories.

Agreed.

In 1963 for example Hurricane Flora smashed Haiti and Cuba in early October and killed approximately 8,000 people. I doubt anyone that survived forget Flora.

All I can say is watch out for Mindy....that name STILL gives me bad vibes for a Caribbean system. Man I hope I'm wrong on this one. :o
