what kind of map is that..? lol.. I don't recall seeing a map like that before..

Its a map that plots the chance of tropical development within the given areas. :)

Ok are these reports generated locally? I found this one and it shows a different situation: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/srh/tropicalwx/ ... ob_sep.htm
When I click on the properties of that gif Rainband I get this address: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/srh/tropicalwx/ ... ob_jun.gif
It looks like a forecat for the month of June to me. Maybe that image has been posted by mistake.
