The fun and games have began in Halifax. Live TV at the CHC (yes they have a Hurricane Center) reports gusts are topping 96mph.
Several power outages are reported. Halifax declared a state of emergency several hours ago. Some reports of downed trees and broken windows.
First of the rain bands are beginning to effect here in Moncton, light to moderate rain. Gusts are steadily increasing, unfortunately I don`t expect power to be on for too long.

Yeah Britbob`s alive and well, fortunately for work!! Yes, we had a power outage about an hour after I signed off from here. Juan only brushed Moncton. There was a secondary line of pretty impressive cells that moved through once Juan had cleared. Lightning knocked our power out. We had no wind damage so to speak, gusts probably touched close to 55mph. Some minor flooding but all in all, a dissapointment in a strange kind of way!
Halifax, oh dear Halifax. It can`t be said enough how bad the city is. The place is a mess, wrecked buildings, toppled 300 yr old trees, snapped hydro, damaged roads etc etc. City and region could be without power until the weekend.
Prince Edward Island also took quite a battering, with extensive damage.
I find it unbelievable though the lack of media coverage such an event has had. This is the worst disaster to hit the maritimes in nearly half a century.
