NWS TAMPA - RAIN FORECAST FOR WC FLA........

#1 Postby dixiebreeze » Mon Sep 29, 2003 10:56 am

(Not as dire as for SW Fla.):

West central and southwest Florida forecast discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay area - Ruskin Florida
901 am EDT Monday Sep 29 2003

First batch of heavy rain over central coastal counties winding down
to light/moderate rain. Northern edge is trying to slip south...
but is doing so very slowly. The weather is markedly different on
either side of the boundary with tropical heavy showers forming off
the southwest coast and should be overspreading Charlotte and lee
counties later this morning...while true polar air is filtering
into the far north under gusty northeasterly winds. Dew point is all
the way down to 46 at Cross City at 8 am...while it rests at 74
in Tampa. The drier air will try to seep into the Tampa Bay area
later today while the focus of the heavy rain shifts southward...
but it will struggle.

My current thinking is that our probability of precipitation over the north are too high for
today. I will strip the probability of precipitation out of Levy and go down to low end
scattered for Hernando north...and that may even be too high. Pasco
is more troublesome as the front will really start to slow down
there. I will keep in 50 probability of precipitation for them thinking they will see some
redevelopment this afternoon...although confidence is not great.
I will leave in categorical probability of precipitation elsewhere.

Marine: I will need to upgrade the north to Small Craft Advisory and the central to
scec based on current conditions.

Tbw watches/warnings/advisories...
Flood Watch through Wednesday for: Pasco...Hillsborough...Polk...
Pinellas...Manatee...Hardee...Highlands...Sarasota...DeSoto...
Charlotte...and lee counties.
Small Craft Advisory Tarpon Springs to Suwannee river.
Small craft exercise caution today Englewood to Tarpon Springs.

I just joined storm2k from storm 2003. I just wanted to know what the weather will be in Palm beach county, because the rain is north and west of us.

Boca vice, Here is the link to the NWS Miami Radar Image. Now you can see exactly when the rain is coming LOL :)

Also, there is a link on the top left of the radar that says:
Miami,FL Homepage. That will take you to the home page for our region and all kinds of fun stuff.
