Does threat mean a storm forecast to move towards the CONUS or an actual watch/warning for a part of the US coastline?
Means actual storm hitting the U.S

Re: 1st U.S Tropical Threat
I voted for the first half of August. I think the wave currently in the central Atlantic will impact Florida, Louisiana, or Texas right at the beginning of August.

I voted for the second half of August. Global models don't show much activity until mid to late August.

Re: 1st U.S Tropical Threat
The second half of August. I can't really see a tropical threat this year for the US so early this year. I think there will be a fish storm, a hurricane that hits the caribbean and Mexico, and THEN we get a hit from a Tropical System.

Don't know if that counts...
Yes but i dont think "Don" would last till August. So 22% of the people that voted would be correct.

Yes,if that occurs,it counts as the first U.S landfall in 2011 and since 2008,unless it tracks south of Brownsville.

LOL.. You are not kidding there. I mean, Don was weakening so rapidly at landfall. I have never seen a tropical cyclone fizzle out so rapidly along the coast without major disruption influences i.e. mountainous terrain etc...
That extreme dry air environment around Texas just completely got entrained into the circulation and dissolved Don. It was amazing to see how that storm became such a dud in terms of not bringing substantial rain relief to portions of Texas.

NEVER, EVER SAY NEVER in the tropics and weather in general, and most importantly, with life itself!!

Re: 1st U.S Tropical Threat
due to the events with Don, the July 21-31 will probably not happen but because of 91l, it may be the people who guessed august 1-10 that may happen

I believe it does count because the title says "threat" not "landfall" and warnings were issued before the storm made landfalls.
