Question?

Since the sea surface temperatures off the east coast from Florida to Maine are running well above normal for this time of the year, would that increase the chance of an east coast hurricane landfall, maybe major hurricane landfall even north of Virginia.

If you're talking about strength at landfall, certainly warm waters would help; warm waters don't equate to more landfalls though.
