I remember a person being blasted on here in Ike's early stages. That person mentioned this storm was going to be historic in size, damage, etc. Well that person was correct. I have grown up visiting Bolivar (Crystal Beach, Gilchrist) and my family HAD a house there for over 30 years. My Grandmother's WAS over 60 years old. Needless to say, neither one survived IKE. Ours was beachfront and reduced to 2 pilings. I truly cannot describe the devastation in that area. Also, I would have never guessed the storm would affect my family in The Woodlands as well as family in Beaumont and Louisiana over 100 to 150 miles away. Ike is for sure one storm I will never forget and hope to never see anything like that again.
