New convection around the center

#1 Postby mf_dolphin » Sat Aug 02, 2003 7:01 am

Looks like the new convection this morning is a lot closer to the LLC. If this holds through the day we might just have our TD8 finally!

The wave done a lot of on and off pulsing yesterday. Even though the shear is suppose to be low it looked like the top of the system was being sheared from the north and the front part of the band or the most western edge was also being sheared. It has a very nice rotation to it and as you said Marshall the convection is starting to fire again. Even though it has had, it's fair share of problems with development, the overall appearance looks strong and will be around for a while. As it gets farther west will be interesting to see what happens . I guess we all must remain patient for now. (Yea I know easier said than done.) Remember we are now in August and the heart of the season is now before us!

:band: And the band plays... WHO LET THE BUCS OUT!! How bout those BUCCANEERS!

Don't Think So

#5 Postby wxman57 » Sat Aug 02, 2003 7:57 am

I don't think it's ever looked worse than today. The LLC is about gone now, it's probably just an open wave this morning, though it may have a very broad LLC. Most likely no TD this weekend.

Looked at the wave early this AM and it had a nice convective burst. Just looked at it again and the convection has split and does not look as good. However, at one point yesterday it had hardly no convection and if it didn't have a nice strong spin to it you might have missed it.
I will agree that the overall size of the system has decreased and it sure is having it's problems. It's trying to hold on to it's convection!

Do you think chances for development will get better as it gets farther west or will it continue to be challenged?

Not Done

#8 Postby wxman57 » Sat Aug 02, 2003 8:22 am

Oh, I certainly don't think it's "done", but at this point I don't think it has any better chance of development than any other of the many tropical waves that traverse the Atlantic during the season. It's just something to keep an eye on now.
