It looks like shear was once-again on the increase overnight. The center has been moving to the W-WSW for te last 6-8 hours, and separating itself more from the convection well to the northeast. In the last few images, it looks like the center began to expand. In fact, for a bit there it looked like the center was washing out. The upper trof that was along the central Gulf coast is lifting out, and the ridge is building east from Texas. There appears to be a better chance for landfall in Mexico. I certainly have my doubts about Claudette reaching 60kts before then, but it only takes a brief reduction in wind shear.
It just goes to show you, you need to "look at the flow" (lower & mid level steering) and not let the big squalls moving northward fool you into thinking Claudette was moving north. Of course, she's not inland yet!
