We need an 'Erin' in Southeast Texas.

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

We need an 'Erin' in Southeast Texas.

We need a wet, low wind TC like Erin something fierce. Preferably, without the freshwater drowning fatalities Erin produced in SE Texas and Oklahoma.

Driving back from Austin via Highway 71, entire fields of crops are dead. Lost. The corn crop looks completely devastated, and what I think was milo and sorghum looks to be on it's last legs.

I'll settle for an active tropical wave, or a rare out of season front that stalls over us for a week, instead. I know some people in HOU area did ok with Dolly last week, but my lawn didn't.

We're on the same page, Ed. It's rather painful to surf this forum and see people talking about the soaking showers they're getting this week. Having lived through periods where we got 10" of rain in 2 days...and also periods of drought like this one... though it's a tough choice, I'll take the deluge. This is just plain depressing. :(

Send it up 45 to DFW. Brutally hot and dry.

On GOMEX thread someone posted snippet from FWD AFD, which referred to a 'tropical system' affecting Texas Tuesday or Wednesday.

I posted this in reply:

Just looked at the 0Z GFS. Real stretch to call what is predicted a 'tropical system'. A piece of the trough pinches off, retrogrades back under the ridge with a weak surface reflection right on the coast, and the rain basically falls apart before Houston.

Euro has a similar pinch off, and a retrograding inverted trough, no surface development, but the inverted trough is a bit more impressive, (closes off, even) and at least hope for some showers for SE Texas.

Southeast Texas just might get "Erin". Check the Gulf of Mexico Thread.

I talk about it in the Long Range Model thread. I'm kind of new and I don't know how to link it. :(

Yeah, I need rain really bad.

Managed about .10" on two das from Dolly.

I have missed-out on the last 3 or 4 rounds of precip here in SE Texas where most people got at least half an inch (some people 5 inches) and I got mostly nothing....something like .5" all month.

12Z GFS develops weak system that moves inland in Louisiana and brings no meaningful rain to Houston.

Guesstimating by proximity to Hooks and IAH, and WSR-88D storm totals, about an inch, total, from Dolly on my lawn.

Jason, I hope you and the others who need rain get some soon. Coming back from Brownwood (near Abilene) last week, I saw a lot of areas that needed rain. Fields were dry and grass was brown. We went through periods of Dolly rain though, and as we came down Hwy. 105 into Beaumont, we hit some spots where they got a LOT of rain from Dolly. There were a lot of overflowing ditches and flooded yards. There was flooding in Vidor (just east of Beaumont) and I don't know how much rain I got at my house, but it seemed to be a decent amount. I guess I've been one of the lucky ones. While certainly not overly saturated, I've been fortunate to get in on most of the rounds of precip that have come through. I haven't had to water my yard at all, and it's green, but I have had to water my newly planted shrubs, as they need water daily. We had some storms sit over us for a while yesterday so if I see anything headed my way, I'll redirect it to The Woodlands. 8-)

It is the CMC, so take it for what its worth, but Canadian has a tropical depression or barely a storm, good for a rain party at my house on Monday.

CMC does predict heaviest rain South of I-10, not at my house.

FSU image does show a closed isobar, but the PSU four panel shows rain, and that is what really matters.

So what time should I be there? You get the keg, Jason will bring pizza, and I'll bring my lawn chair. :cheesy:

Yes, I'm fully expecting a good dose of daily afternoon thunderstorms in the Tampa area next week. Not any different than when I lived down there, really, and I'm looking forward to seeing some good "boomers" while I'm down there for a change.

Like the saying goes, 'be careful what you ask for because you might just get it'
