What is the worst looking CAT5 Hurricane?

#1 Postby Cyclenall » Mon Jul 14, 2008 2:26 pm

This should be a hard one. Just stick to Atlantic hurricanes for now but if it gets to hard, expand to the Epac. It's for the time when it was at that intensity, not overall.

I think Hurricane Dean from last year wasn't the best looking one in the world. Hurricane Emily of 2005 wasn't something to behold either. They look really good, but just not as good as the others.

Ivan at his third try at being a cat5 was worst then all of them. He had a double eye wall near Jamaica.

I was thinking a bit about Ivan at one of his last stages of category 5 strength. Maybe it is the #1 worst looking category 5 hurricane  .

I nominate Felix at landfall on Nicaragua.

:uarrow: Check again; it looked pretty nice with the warm pinhole eye and the very intense and well-structured convection.

Best looking was Gilbert.

Worst looking... my vote goes to...

I don't know, thinking back, they're all pretty impressive. I guess Ivan. Ivan was especially crappy looking at landfall.

Definitely Ivan. I remember remarking about how bad it looked as a Cat 5.
