Hello to all!
Many may not remember me and many may be new users to this forum. I was active in posting on this forum last summer during the 2007 Atlantic Hurricane Season. Many of my posts contained screen captures from the Integrated Data Viewer program created by Unidata Corp. Through this excellent program, I am able to utilize various forms of weather data ranging from model data, satellite imagery, weather-surveillance radar, observational data, and upper-air data to create custom weather maps and overlay different forms of data on one base map.
I give all credit to the Unidata Corporation for developing and maintaining such a great program called Integrated Data Viewer. Since 2006, I have been active in studying and learning how to interpret all forms of weather data through the Integrated Data Viewer. I have taken the courses Fundamentals of Meteorology I and Fundamentals of Meteorology II at NC-State University and through these two courses and through Dr. Sandra Yuter, Dr. Gary Lackmann, and certain lab assistants, I have learned much about synoptic, mesoscale, and local scale weather systems. I have also learned through these classes more about tropical cyclone development and how tropical cyclones react to surrounding weather systems.
I have also been active in Central Carolina SKYWARN since the fall of 2005 and have taken numerous basic and advanced National Weather Service Skywarn classes. Through the SKYWARN classes, I have learned how to identify weather hazards based upon cloud structures and measurements. In combination with becoming involved in SKYWARN, I have achieved my amateur radio license. My plan is to achieve a Bachelor's degree in Physical Geography, a minor in Planning, and a certificate in Atmospheric Science from East Carolina University by 2011. I plan for my education, experience, and future plans to lead me into a career of Natural Hazard Emergency Management and Natural Hazard Awareness.
I have developed a web page through yahoo geocities whereby I will be posting tropical disturbance discussions based upon my interpretations of what I see in various weather data including satellite imagery, model data, observational data, upper-air data, and weather-surveillance radar.
I have no degree in Meteorology. As I have only had two years of experience with analyzing weather data, my discussions are amateur. I have, however, created many custom memo's consisting of storm discussions based upon my interpretation of different weather data since the spring of 2006.
Please feel free to visit my webpage which is listed at the top of this post. I would also greatly appreciate feedback on what you think of the site. You can email me at weatherman21@nc.rr.com or you can reply on this forum.
I pray that The Lord will protect us all from hurricanes and all other forms of dangerous weather. My prayers go out to those who have been recently affected by the tornadoes in the Midwest.
Thank you all and God Bless! I plan to be posting on this forum regularly if there are any active tropical disturbance episodes.
Jacob
