The last Hurricane that made landfall in New Jersey was in 1903, 100 years go. That's not the only ironic thing, but that year had a cool and wet June, and what did we have this year? A COOL AND WET June! And, that hurricane didn't weaken right away, it passed right over Eastern Pennsylvania STILL a hurricane before weakening to a Tropical Storm.
Now, with 2003 being the "Year of Extremes," I am kind of scared... :o
Something VERY interesting.........and scary!!

While some years have similar conditions and set-ups, the chances of the same thing happening again is rare. Not to say that it can't happen, but to get concerned right now is a little premature IMO.

Of course anything is possible. Didn't last years pattern resemble this years pattern? I think it did-my point is it didn't happen last year. That being said I must also point out that A LOT of factors have to be "in a row" for a repeat like you are mentioning to happen. But, with this year acting like it has been, who knows??? I NEVER SAY NEVER especially if I am referring to the tropics.

I think about repeat perfomances after a certain factor in meteorology occurs from time to time, but in reality having the same thing happen, (in this case a cool and wet June, then a hurricane that slowly weakens to a tropical storm after making landfall in New Jersey) probably will not happen.
As Garrett and David said... with the weather, anything can happen and we have fun monitoring it.
