evacuation orders

i believe there is a mandatory evacuation order for monroe county, florida

I saw something about this on The Weather Channel moments ago, however I don't think they were mandatory.

According to MSNBC the evacuation is mandatory and applies to visitors only.

I just heard the tourists on the Florida Keys are being told to get off the islands NOW!!! not tomorrow...but NOW!!! It was on Fox News...

Nothing unusual there. They always get the tourists out 1st. Then the locals can take care of their busniess & property...then leave if necessary. Remember...only one way in & out of there.

well, you got to remember, there is only one road out of there and there are alot of people living/vacationing there, so you have to start early, otherwise not everyone will make it out...

Tuesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 11am. Partly cloudy, with a high near 90. Windy, with a east wind 15 to 18 mph increasing to between 40 and 43 mph. Winds could gust as high as 60 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Tuesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 78. Windy, with a southeast wind between 45 and 50 mph, with gusts as high as 70 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Wednesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 91. Windy, with a south wind between 36 and 43 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Wednesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 77. Windy, with a south wind between 26 and 33 mph, with gusts as high as 48 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Monday Night...Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. East winds increasing to 15 to 20 mph and gusty. Chance of rain 50 percent.

Tuesday...Tropical storm conditions possible. Mostly cloudy. Showers likely with a chance of thunderstorms. Highs in the upper 80s. Southeast winds increasing to 40 to 50 mph and gusty. Chance of rain 70 percent.
