NHC first mention of a tropical wave?

Guys i think this might be the first tropical wave mentioned in there discussion in 2006.even if nothing comes out of it cause shear is to high i still thought it was kinda cool.


THE ITCZ IS PRETTY ACTIVE. ITS AXIS IS CENTERED ALONG 6N10W
2N20W EQ35W 1N50W. CLUSTERS OF MODERATE/ISOLATED STRONG
CONVECTION ARE WITHIN 130-150NM ON EITHER SIDE OF THE AXIS WEST
OF 30W. SIMILAR CONVECTION IS FOUND ALONG THE NORTHERN PORTION
OF BRAZIL AS WELL AS FROM FRENCH GUIANA TO NE VENEZUELA. A
POSSIBLE TROPICAL WAVE IS ALONG 19N S OF 12N...PRODUCING
SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED TSTMS BETWEEN 16W-20W. THE BAMAKO
VERTICAL SOUNDING SHOWS THE PASSAGE OF THAT COULD BE A SHALLOW
TROPICAL WAVE

Actually the first tropical wave came off Africa in the mid April time frame....I am not sure if the NHC mentioned it.

yes, it is cool, *many* more waves are to come...

One of our local meterologists (out of the VI's, on the radio) mentioned that discussion yesterday Christy, and did consider it to mean the first true tropical wave of the season if it occurs...one in a week or so, one more in a couple of weeks. He just called it "interesting" that it was in the discussion (the scientist's way of saying "cool!!"? )

Possibly; but I doubt any respectable meteorological report on this thing would have remotely suggested its potential for hurricane development. Another possibility could have been about all that stormy weather that moved through Texas and came our way the past few days--a lot of that weather was over water, but clearly nothing tropical. My students are also watching every vascillation in the weather with an almost paranoia about a repeat of what we've recently gone through--left a lot of folks shell-shocked--and with good reason.
