There are so many hazards out there that are never mentioned. One of them is FATIGUE. I had 4 periods where I did not sleep for more than 24 hours: Dennis, Katrina, Rita, Wilma. I was in decent shape from swimming a lot last year so I survived it. But let me tell you- being tired, very tied, AND in the throws of a killer hurricane is very bad. Actually, your adrenaline will get you through the worst part of the storm. It's the crash later on that will de-rail you. Any experienced hurricane chaser knows all too well about going a LONG time without sleep. Baaaad. But still, we manage to survive.
