I believe he was speaking of Camille at landfall... there's very little doubt Katrina was a 5 while out in the Gulf.

I was about to say

Camille I think could have been as low as 145 or as high as 165

Yes, there is no doubt that Katrina reached Cat. 5 status while in the Gulf. Camille may be able to be debated though, but either way I think Camille was at least a strong Cat. 4 at peak intensity.

No Doubt that Camielle was a 5 in the GOM. However, I doubt it was at landfall because not only was the pressure rising and we know that the winds start to decrease before the pressure starts rising, but there was also land interaction. Camielle's western eye wall came very close to if not over Plaquemines and caused major damage there

Katrina was a very strong 5 166 knots 0r 191 mph at 10,000 ft

191 at 10,000 is what at ground level? 160mph? 170?
