I think the SST discussion thread is where these last few posts could have been. There is no debate here we agree in general with the active period and florida will not be excluded. :(

I do think the mean old days have returned. We will see more storms...and they won't necessarily be long-tracking Cape Verdes, either.

I think that hits like Wilma in October/November are going to become fairly common occurrences. We've already seen Irene and Wilma....Mitch was close, actually hitting as a TS, and Michelle was close...all this since 1998.

Actually the active period has been going on since 1995. We're 10 years in.

Still don't see any "debate"....but since this board is acting like Florida is the only location that will be affected this season, I think I'm going to go ahead and throw away my hurricane kit.

Florida to New England and Texas I think have targets on them but anywhere can get hit this year, or any year for that fact

As has been mentioned, Florida doesn't have an "active period" per se. The basin has active and inactive perioods. Florida is just geographiclaly located such that it will always have a high probability of a hit or even multiple hits hits during any given year in an active period in the basin.

By "active" I mean like 2004, 3 Hurricanes hits and one non direct hit in a month in a half

Remember, if they hit us, they often hit you after they are done with us. hehe
