"East Coast Trough" doesn't mean "Everything recurves 1000 miles out to sea."
Without any East Coast Trough at all the East Coast north of Florida would never get hit, either...everything would hit Florida or go into the GOM.
Actually, if this particular East Coast Trough maintained its average position in the same place through November it's entirely plausible you could have a lot of North Carolina/Mid Atlantic/New England storm hits.
