How Strong Will Zeta Get? I Think 65MPH!

#1 Postby MiamiensisWx » Sun Jan 01, 2006 5:20 pm

Since Zeta is now in an area of lower shear (only around 20KT) and is getting better organized, I think Zeta will reach a peak intensity of 65MPH, in the 65MPH to 70MPH range. Zeta has a good opportunity to gain strength.

What are YOUR opinions? How strong do you think Zeta will get?

IMO SSTs may be able to support a weak-moderate Category 1
Hurricane given the cold-core subtropical origin of Zeta. Given that
origin, Zeta may be able to strengthen over cooler SSTs than
the SSTs normally required for normal tropical systems and normal
warm-origin hurricanes.

Well... I really haven't been studying the infra-red and visible sat images of these hurricanes and TSs so once again I have no idea how to read the infra red and visible images like you guys can. So I really don't expect anything from this system. From what I've heard latley from TWC (yes The Weather Channel) it formed from a low pressure system that swept through the U.S. I think like a week ago or somthing like that. So since once again I have no idea what to say about this system I'm saying btween 65 and 80 (I picked 65 - 70)

The majority vote (including myself) won this poll! Zeta did reach it's peak intensity (so far) of 65MPH.

NOTE - DO NOT VOTE IN THIS POLL! IT IS OLD!
